Action to STOP Unauthorised Traveller Encampments ...
STOP PRESS - APRIL 2021 - TACKLING UNAUTHORISED TRAVELLER ENCAMPMENTS Keith Witham has been pressing for several years for new laws to control Unauthorised Traveller Encampments - to make these a Criminal Offence with criminal penalties, so that the Police can take faster, effective action. New laws are now going through Parliament.
And the sooner the better. Unauthorised Traveller Encampments, the clear up costs, more security for affected sites - just locally - in Jacobs Well, Fairlands, Normandy, Perry Hill, Pirbright and Worplesdon - have cost public funds (all of us) OVER £200,000 !!!
Keith Witham and Lisa Townsend both strongly support tougher action to prevent future Unauthorised Traveller Encampments. For further information email: firstname.lastname@example.org

People often ask what do different Councils do? So here is a summary:
The main services that Surrey County Council (SCC) and Guildford Borough Council (GBC) are required to provide, are as a result of legal obligations placed on them by Parliament. They include:
Surrey County Council - Schools and Education; Libraries, Social Care Services for Adults and Children; roads maintenance and road safety schemes; Surrey Fire & Rescue; Trading Standards/consumer protection; Planning relating to waste disposal and recycling sites; emergency planning; countryside access and rights of way; environmenral matters; Public Health; and scrutiny (but not operational control) of Surrey NHS and Surrey Police.
Guildford Borough Council deals with Street cleansing; residential and business planning applications; Housing; Environmental Health; Licensing; Refuse and recycling door to door collections; collection of Council Tax.
Parish Councils. In the wider Worplesdon area there is: Worplesdon Parish Council; Normandy Parish Council and Pirbright Parish Council. Parish Councils do not have any services which they legally obliged to provide but can choose to provide local services, so will be different in each parish. They are run by your elected Parish Councillors, and each has a Parish Clerk. Enquire to your local one to find out more.
So, whether its a planning application, protecting the environment, getting help with housing, supporting local jobs & infrastructure, or recycling waste - your Conservative Team can make a difference. We welcome your feedback so we can represent your area and help make decisions that work for you.
Supporting the volunteers and clubs who make Fairlands a thriving community.
Campaigning to combat traffic congestion and protect the area from threat of overdevelopment and flooding.
Campaigning to protect greenbelt and the Site of Special Scientific Interest at Whitmoor Common and Brittans Pond.
Working with local residents to protect the special character of the village and tranquil surroundings.
The wider Worplesdon area also includes Normandy and Pirbright/Fox Corner - please see individual pages on the menu.
